Yesterday the Joomla project announced the availability of Joomla 2.5.0. This is a security release. So you should have no worries when you upgrade your Joomla site.

Actually, Joomla 2.5 is another milestone in the development of the Joomla CMS and it is marked by dramatical changes. For instance, it’s for the first time that the Joomla CMS includes multi-database support with the addition of Microsoft SQL Server. Other versions of Joomla that were released before were only compatible with MySQL databases. Also, when logged into the control panel Joomla users will be notified each time a new release of Joomla or a new Joomla extension is available. For a detailed list of features that will come with Joomla 2.5, please read the following article

If for some reasons you are unable to update to version 2.5.0, feel free to download Joomla 1.7.4, but please rememeber that Joomla 1.7 will not be supported after February 24th, 2012.

All who are using Joomla as a platform for their websites are welcome to upgrade to Joomla 2.5.0 or Joomla 1.7.4 depending on their needs, because the power and security of Joomla increase with each new release.

A home page is the most critical page of any website, whether a Joomla site or any other site. The main purpose of a homepage is to let visitors know what a website has to offer, but sometimes webmasters don’t want too much information on the homepage and that is why they create enter pages or welcoming pages. These are the first pages users see once they enter websites.

If you want your Joomla site to have an enter page too, be sure to keep it as simple as possible so it does not look cluttered. For instance, why don’t you make your enter page of a background image and a navigation bar only? This way the navigation bar will stand out on the page and your website users will only visit the pages they are interested in, without spending time to scan the whole home page.

So if you would like the home page of your Joomla site to look like an enter page, you may then use any of the 10 Joomla templates below.

Today we will share a collection of Joomla templates that incorporate transparent layers and other elements.

The effect of transparency has become a powerful trend for designers all over the world and Joomla designers are not an exception.

Transparency adds some depth to web designs and makes them multi-layered and more real. Visiting transparent sites users have a feeling that the text is just the top of the iceberg and much more is being stored inside the website. Thus, when creating transparent websites and transparent Joomla templates much attention should be paid to background images. After all, a backround is what users will see whatever page of the website they visit.

If you want your Joomla website with elements of transparency, then take a few minutes to see the Joomla Templates below. Each of these templates is a great example of transparency in web design.

Sometimes designers use multiple columns, thumbnails, unique title display, etc.

If the idea behind your Joomla website is to drive users’ attention to the content itself and not to the design of the website, then you will definitely like the Joomla Templates below. These templates are designed to help you build clean Joomla websites that are easy to browse, and that will show more content in one page.
