The version 1.6.4 is released to fix the issues that users face with the previous versions of the Joomla content management system and the main aims of introducing Joomla 1.7 Beta 1 are the following: 1. to test Joomla 1.7 and see if there are any bugs that should be fixed before the final release; 2. to inform Joomla users of the upcoming launch of the Joomla 1.7; 3. to allow a trial upgrade from version 1.6.4 to 1.7.0.
